bulmer & lumb
    company history

Bulmer & Lumb has been a major force in the textiles industry since 1931 and during that time has established an excellent reputation for quality and service in the production of tops, yarns and fabric using 100% wool and wool/synthetic blends. Its present site was built in the 1960/70 as a purpose built mill and dyehouse occupying approximately thirteen acres some three kilometres from the motorway network.

In 1987, it was acquired by Allied Textiles plc and for a number of years formed part of the Natural Fibres Division of that company. In January 2002 , it was purchased from Allied Textiles by the present management team in a ‘buy out’ funded by Yorkshire Bank.

Bulmer & Lumb remains one of the leading textile sites in Yorkshire. As the centres of textile production move to emerging countries, Bulmer & Lumb has established links that enhances its position as an important participator in international textile manufacturing. Long-term relationships with suppliers of wool, polyester, nylon and acrylic fibres ensure that only quality materials are used in the manufacture of coloured tops, yarns and fabrics sold to customers throughout the world.
