Environmental Policy
Bulmer and Lumb produce a wide product range from raw wool top, top dyed wool, space dyed wool,
package dyeing, corporate and uniform fabric and fine worsted cloth. The dyeing equipment consists of high-pressure dye vessels suitable for both natural and synthetic fibre dyeing. The skills and experience of our staff ensure that our production is of the highest consistency, with strict quality control procedures applied both during and after production. The company strives for continual improvement and both management and staff are committed to managing the environmental impact of their sites.
- Bulmer & Lumb will maintain an Environmental Management System.
- Ensure environmental awareness amongst all employees and provide training to allow them to
meet their environmental responsibilities.
- It is the intention of Bulmer & Lumb, as far as is reasonably practical, to ensure that all products
produced and the processes used to prepare them fulfill their purpose as safely as possible without
any detrimental impact to the environment.
- Every effort is made to use natural resources and energy in the most efficient way and to reduce
waste in all forms. It recognises the responsibility to dispose of all unavoidable waste as safely as
possible using the latest advances in technology.
- Bulmer & Lumb is fully compliant with the EEC Directive on Integrated Pollution Prevention Control.
It is committed to ensuring chemicals and dyestuffs used cause no harm including non-pollution of
manufacturing site, watercourses and emissions into the atmosphere.
- Within the directives of the Climate Change Levy established to improve energy usage, the British
Government offers incentives for the efficient use of energy by the use of modern technology.
Bulmer and Lumb is achieving the levels set out by the Government assessors for the textile
industry.
- Undertake waste reduction and recycling activities wherever practical and improve the efficiency of
energy use within the organization.
- Regularly review our environmental performance and that of our systems
- Set objectives and work towards targets to ensure continual improvement in environmental
performance
- Communicate this policy throughout all levels of Bulmer & Lumb and make it available to the public
on request.
This policy will be reviewed on an annual basis by the Health, Safety & Environment Committee.
